Life Doesn't Stop Happening..
Do you ever have those moments when you think you are doing so amazing? Everything is going super smoothly? Your getting this done. Your getting that done. Your making sure this is taken care of. Your going here. Your going there. Your making sure your getting those boxes checked off. Your, your, your......see the pattern? I am terrible at this. It is really hard not to be self-gratifying all the time. It's hard to let go of the things "that YOU have to do. No one else will do it the right way" (Good Heavens this clementine is DELICIOUS)! Anyway, learning to be less self-gratifying is really hard. It takes a conscience effort to do it. For me it does. I love people that can just do it. I can't. Like this morning, for instance. I have my list of things that "have to be done TODAY". Well, little Cleo is following me around with an enormous pile of books begging me to read to her. "I can't honey. Not right now. I have so much I have to get done (when deep down inside I just don't want to read to her right now...at all)". So she moves on and plays but still comes back with the desire for me to read to her. All she wants is some time with me. Books are something I will do with her and she knows it. All she wants is to spend some of her life with ME! Once I stopped and thought about that, it was so easy to just let the rest of my "have to-dos" go and read to her. 10 minutes. It took 10 minutes. She loved it. The words she said to me when we were finished made me so happy. "Thanks mommy, that was so much fun"! Sometimes we just have to stop and realize that life doesn't stop happening. Kids don't stop growing. Families don't stop moving. You have no control over that. If you don't enjoy your life, it will be gone and you will have missed it. For what? A clean house? Because you just don't want to? It's inconvenient? Why? Why do we do that? One thing for sure is that you do have control over whether you allow it to pass by you or whether you enjoy the journey, whatever it might be. Learn to "dance in the rain". It will open up an entirely different world for you. And who knows it may be "SO MUCH FUN"!
